Moonfall - 'Odes to the Ritual Hills' CD
Jewel case CD edition
Emerging from the prolific Finnish black metal scene, MOONFALL was formed in 2008, only to reunite in 2020. The duo—Goatprayer and Black Moon Necromancer—bring a wealth of experience, playing in bands like Witchcraft, Necromonarchia Daemonum, Funerealm Gloom, with Goatprayer also heading Ceremonial Torture and Black Moon Necromancer plus playing guitar for the legendary Beherit. Despite their prolific work, MOONFALL had yet to release a full-length album—until now. Their long-awaited debut, brings their raw, ancient aesthetic to new, depraved depths. Drawing from classic influences like Necromantia & Barathrum the album fuses brutal bass, sinister vocals, and ominous, lumbering rhythms while rejecting modern black metal and doom tropes. Clocking in at nearly 30 minutes, Odes to the Ritual Hills conjures an eerie atmosphere, akin to a moonlit journey across mist-covered moors. The album is underscored by thick, throbbing bass and vintage synths that set MOONFALL apart in the underground scene. Book-ended by two all-synth instrumentals, these tracks heighten the album's dark ritualistic power. With Odes to the Ritual Hills, MOONFALL have emerged with one of the year's most ancient-sounding records, marking their return from the depths of the past.
