In 1993, at the height of the second wave of black metal, Gehenna emerged from Norway, with their debut demo, 'Black Seared Heart'. Released in extremely limited quantities on tape, this first offering introduced the world to the band’s distinctive, atmospheric sound that would come to define their career. Now, 'Black Seared Heart' is available again, remastered and reissued on vinyl, bringing this essential piece of Norwegian black metal history back into the spotlight. The demo features seven tracks, three of which are instrumental pieces serving as intros and outros, setting a haunting, atmospheric tone throughout. It stands as a remarkable first effort, showcasing an ability to craft mood-driven compositions with lasting appeal. What truly sets this demo apart from many others of the era is its production quality, sounding far more refined than most demo tapes, allowing the eerie, atmospheric elements to shine through in a way that many early black metal recordings did not. This reissue also includes several exclusive bonus tracks. These include a newly remastered instrumental track, a previously unreleased rehearsal-room recording, and a session from an incomplete studio recording that was originally intended to be the band's first EP, 'First Spell'. These rare tracks offer an invaluable glimpse into Gehenna's early creative process, showcasing their raw potential before they fully honed their signature sound. The tracks have been meticulously remastered by Patrick W.
