Kreuzweg Ost – 'Edelrost' CD
Jewel case CD edition
Edelrost (2005), a powerful and immersive release from the Austrian darkwave and martial industrial music project founded by Michael Gregor (aka Silenius of Summoning) and Martin Schirenc (formerly of Pungent Stench). This album blends military-themed sound design, World War-era samples, and deep, cinematic industrial soundscapes. Edelrost is entirely instrumental, with carefully selected and arranged historical audio samples taking the place of vocals. These samples unfold like radio play-style vignettes, telling fragmented stories from the past, often focused on military or religious themes. The result is a dark, narrative-driven listening experience. Prior to this release, Schirenc left the group and was replaced by Ronald Albrecht (programming) and Oliver Stummer—also known under aliases like Tomoroh Hidari and Namelessness Is Legion—who contributed as producer and sound engineer. Kreuzweg Ost's concept centers on creating musical interpretations of films and literature dealing with war, faith, and the human condition. Edelrost is an essential release for fans of martial industrial, dark ambient, soundtrack-style experimental music, and collectors of Austrian underground music.
