Originally released in 2005, Mond (“Moon”) marks a pivotal moment in LUNAR AURORA’s evolution, spelling a surreal, otherworldly descent into the coldest recesses of atmospheric Black Metal. In doing so the Bavarian cult forged one of their most immersive and dreamlike offerings, drenched in nocturnal mysticism and cosmic melancholy. From the first notes, Mond envelops the listener in dense, glacial layers of synth, trance-like guitar work, and ghostly rasps that seem to echo across vast, lunar wastelands. Each track feels like a drifting procession beneath an endless night sky — melancholic, hypnotic, and strangely beautiful in its isolation. Here, LUNAR AURORA fully embrace the ambient and introspective edge of their sound without losing any of the cold intensity that defined their earlier work.
