Emerging from the shadowed vision of Rev. Matron Thorn in Tampere, Finland, Materiæ Abyssu has built a singular legacy of dark ambient ritualism and immersive drone since the debut 'Heavenly Darkrealm Beckoning' in 2022. Sixteen albums later, each bearing Thorn’s unmistakable artistic signature, the project reaches its most ambitious horizon yet with Aëthÿrinn Na Viixhræ. This 2025 release pushes the boundaries of sound and spirit. Joined by the spectral vocalist Ishtariæ, whose ethereal presence channels mystic and demonic realms, the album fuses darkwave, industrial, world-music textures, and apocalyptic ambient landscapes into a cohesive, transcendent journey. For the first time, Richard Corvinus handles mix and mastering, sharpening the sonic detail and amplifying the work’s hypnotic intensity. Inspired by the Áltharósian mystical system founded by Thorn, each track reflects the five Ëmpyrean realms, with Ishtariæ performing lyrics in the meditative Áltharósian language. The album becomes both sound and scripture an invocation of transformation, a ritual for the modern age, and a meditation on the precarious balance of existence.
